A wall faced toilet (also called a close-coupled toilet suite) features a cistern that sits directly on top of and flush against the rear of the toilet pan, creating a seamless back panel. The back of the unit sits flat against the wall, giving a cleaner look than older exposed-plumbing models. Wall faced toilets are the most common toilet suite type sold in Australia and suit both modern and traditional bathrooms.

CleanFlush is Caroma's patented rimless toilet technology. Rather than using a traditional inner rim to direct flush water around the bowl, a design that creates hidden areas where bacteria and limescale accumulate, CleanFlush directs water in a powerful, targeted sweep across the entire bowl surface with every flush. You need a shower mixer with a diverter function, either a built-in diverter on the mixer body, a separate diverter valve, or a combination shower outlet that manages both functions. Consult your plumber during the rough-in stage to ensure the water outlets are positioned correctly for the rail and overhead positions. While bath mixers and basin mixers may look similar, they are not interchangeable. The key technical difference is the water supply connection size. This difference matters because filling a bathtub requires a significantly higher flow rate, a basin mixer simply cannot deliver water fast enough to fill a bath in a reasonable time. Always use tapware specified for bath applications when fitting out a bath, and consult your plumber if you are unsure.

The key factor is the height and style of your basin. For standard inset or semi-recessed basins, a regular deck-mounted basin mixer with a spout height of around 100–140mm works well. However, if you have an above-counter or vessel basin, where the bowl sits on top of the benchtop, you will need a tall basin mixer with a spout height of 180mm or more, otherwise the spout will sit below the basin rim and water will splash onto the benchtop. Wall-mounted mixers offer another option for above-counter basins, with the height controlled by your rough-in position. Always confirm basin rim height before purchasing your tapware.

Standard freestanding baths in Australia range from 1400mm to 1800mm in length. A 1500mm bath suits most adults comfortably and fits in ensuites with a floor area of around 2.5–3 sqm or more. A 1700mm bath offers a more generous soak. Always measure the available floor space and allow clearance on all sides for both plumbing access and aesthetic breathing room.
