Radiant LED Mirrors Buying Guide

Radiant LED mirrors combine soft built-in lighting, a demister and touch controls in round, capsule and rectangular shapes. The range includes frameless backlit mirrors (Kapsel, Olek, Ark and Pebl) and framed edge-lit mirrors in black or white (Kapsel, Olek and Roek), plus a separate 12V demister pad. They suit modern bathrooms, ensuites and powder rooms.

What's the difference between frameless and framed Radiant mirrors?

The difference is where the light falls. The frameless mirrors have LEDs hidden behind the glass, so light washes softly onto the wall around the mirror for a glowing, backlit effect. The framed mirrors build the LEDs into the frame at the front of the glass, lighting the mirror's edge and casting more light towards your face. Backlit suits light walls and rooms that already have good task lighting, while edge-lit suits darker rooms and busy family bathrooms.

What shapes and sizes are available?

The range covers a shape for most walls.

  • Kapsel: a tall 500 x 1000mm capsule, frameless or framed in black or white.
  • Olek: round, frameless in 600mm to 1200mm or framed in 600mm to 900mm.
  • Ark: a tall frameless mirror, 550mm wide and 1000mm to 1800mm high.
  • Pebl: a frameless 700 x 900mm portrait mirror.
  • Roek: a black framed 600 x 800mm mirror that hangs upright or sideways.

What size mirror suits my vanity?

A mirror about 70 to 80 per cent of the vanity's width usually looks balanced. A 500mm Kapsel suits a vanity of about 650mm to 700mm, a 600mm Olek or Roek suits about 750mm to 850mm, and an 800mm Olek suits about 1000mm to 1150mm. Hang the mirror so its centre sits at about eye level, usually 1500mm to 1650mm from the floor, leaving 100mm to 200mm above the tap.

What do the touch controls do?

The built-in touch sensor turns the light and the demister on and off, switches between warm, natural and white light, and sets one of four brightness levels. Natural or white light suits grooming and makeup, warm light suits evenings, and the lowest level works as a nightlight. The demister keeps the glass clear after a hot shower.

How are Radiant LED mirrors installed?

Radiant LED mirrors are hardwired to 240V power, with the connection hidden behind the mirror, so they must be installed by a licensed electrician. Plan the power point before the wall is finished. Most mirrors have built-in wall brackets, and should be fixed into studs or suitable cavity anchors. Mirrors over 1000mm need two people to lift. All are rated IP44 for use near basins.

Can I add a demister to a plain mirror?

Yes, the Radiant 12V low voltage demister pad is 800 x 300mm and fits behind a mirror to keep a patch of glass clear of fog. It runs on low voltage, so have an electrician fit it with a suitable supply.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I install a bathroom mirror safely?

Bathroom mirrors should be hung using appropriate wall anchors rated for the mirror's weight, or using an adhesive mirror system if recommended by the manufacturer. In tiled bathrooms, use tile drill bits and nylon wall plugs to avoid cracking tiles. For large or heavy mirrors, it's recommended to have a licensed tradesperson handle installation, and always ensure the mirror is fixed securely to avoid the risk of it falling.

What is a mirror with a demister pad?

A demister pad is a heated element bonded to the back of the mirror that gently warms the glass surface, preventing condensation from forming. This means your mirror stays clear even in a steamy bathroom. Demister pads are a popular upgrade in Australian bathrooms, particularly in cooler climates or smaller bathrooms where steam builds quickly.

What size mirror should I hang above a vanity?

As a general rule, your bathroom mirror should be the same width as or up to 50–100mm narrower than your vanity. For a 600mm vanity, a 550–600mm mirror works well; for a 1200mm double vanity, a 1100–1200mm mirror or two individual mirrors side by side suit the space. Height is flexible, most bathroom mirrors sit between 700mm and 900mm tall, depending on ceiling height and user preference.

Should I choose an LED mirror or a standard mirror for my bathroom?

An LED mirror provides built-in lighting that illuminates the face evenly, which is ideal for grooming, makeup application, and shaving. Many LED mirrors also include demister pads to prevent fogging after a shower. A standard mirror is a cost-effective, timeless choice when the bathroom already has good ambient and task lighting. If your bathroom lighting is limited or positioned overhead, an LED mirror is a worthwhile upgrade.

What types of bathroom mirrors are available in Australia?

Australian bathrooms commonly feature flat-mounted wall mirrors, LED-backlit mirrors, frameless mirrors, framed mirrors, and shaving cabinets with mirrored doors. Shape options include rectangular, round, oval, arch, and pill-shaped mirrors. The Blue Space stocks all of these styles from brands like Ingrain, with options that suit everything from minimalist to Hamptons-style bathrooms.

What is a shaving cabinet and how is it different from a bathroom mirror?

A shaving cabinet is a recessed or surface-mounted wall cabinet with a mirrored door (or doors) on the front. Unlike a flat bathroom mirror, a shaving cabinet provides internal storage for medicines, razors, skincare products, and other bathroom essentials. Many modern shaving cabinets also feature integrated LED lighting, shaving points, and demister pads, making them a highly functional addition to any bathroom.
