What toilet components are listed here
This collection holds the visible parts of a toilet that you choose and change: flush plates and buttons, seat hinges and hinge caps, and toilet seats. Parts inside the cistern, such as fill valves, flush valves, flappers and seals, are not included here. For Caroma spares, see Caroma toilet parts. Whatever you choose, match it to your toilet. A plate is made for a cistern, a hinge cap for a seat family and a seat for a pan, so confirm the fit before you order.
Flush plates for concealed cisterns
Find the make and range of the cistern behind your wall first, because a plate fits the cistern it was made for. The Caroma Invisi Series II plates come in round, oval and rectangular shapes. The finishes include brushed nickel, brushed brass, brushed bronze, matte black and gunmetal, and the round plate also comes in white and grey tones. The fixings are fully concealed and the plate gives complete service access to the Invisi Series II cistern. The plates mount on the wall above the toilet or on a benchtop, and the pneumatic buttons need only a light touch. With the remote option on the rectangular plate, the buttons can sit up to 4m from the cistern. The round plate measures 210mm by 110mm and is 5.5mm deep. The raised care buttons are easy to push and can be installed to comply with AS1428.1, and accessible toilets covers the wider fit-out. The full range is on Caroma concealed toilet buttons.
The Geberit Sigma 20, Sigma 20 square, Sigma 30 and Sigma 60 plates mostly suit Sigma 8 cisterns. Two Sigma 20 plates have no cistern named, so confirm the fit before you order. The Kappa 50 plate pairs with the Kappa Under Counter 150 concealed cistern and doubles as its access panel. The Meir Sigma 21 plates are brass with a PVD finish, 246mm wide, and suit Sigma concealed in-wall cisterns. See Geberit concealed toilet buttons, and Geberit cistern and toilet suite packages for the cisterns themselves.
The Seima 500 Series flush plates suit all Seima in-wall cisterns. They are rectangular ABS plates, 236mm wide and 152mm high, with full and half flush buttons, and the finishes include matte white, matte black and brushed nickel. The Nero in wall push plates are 304 stainless steel with concealed fixing and suit the R&T in wall cistern. The brand pages are Seima concealed toilet buttons and Nero concealed toilet buttons, and concealed toilet buttons covers every make. If you are weighing an in-wall toilet, start with in wall concealed toilets.
Buttons for exposed cisterns, hinge caps and sets
Round flush buttons for cisterns that show are on cistern toilet buttons. Caroma, Seima and Turner Hastings hinge caps and covers are on toilet hinge caps and buttons. Both collections show the compatibility for each family.
Toilet seats
The Caroma Family D shape seat has a detachable child seat held by magnets when not in use. It fits Liano, Luna and Urbane wall faced and close coupled pans. The Xena soft close seat is designed for Luna toilets, has a blind fixing and releases with one click, and it suits many other brands if the sizing matches. The Liano soft close seat suits Urbane and Liano pans. The Trident is a snap-on seat with adjustable pan fittings, for domestic and light duty commercial use. The Profile standard seat comes with a standard or a soft close hinge, chosen from the drop down. The Fienza Universal UF seat suits the Fienza Delta and Koko suites. Every seat box holds the seat and a fixing kit. For more seats, see toilet seats and Caroma toilet seats, and see bidet toilet seats for seats that wash.
Fitting a Caroma seat, step by step
The Xena and Liano soft close seats share one installation leaflet, number 254500, revision B, and the Family D shape seat uses the same steps. The leaflet is a one page sequence of nine steps. Rubber pads go on the underside of the two hinge mounting posts, an elongated washer is inserted, and the posts are fastened loosely to the pan. For the blind fixing, a metal toggle is pushed through the pan hole, the handles are realigned and pulled upwards while the locking bush is pushed down into the hole, and the handles are then broken off flush with the bush. If needed, side cutters trim the excess.
The seat assembly is then aligned with the hinge posts and pushed down until it clicks. The installer adjusts the seat to the position wanted on the pan and tightens the bolts fully with the hex key provided. Stainless steel covers slide over the hinge posts. To take the seat off for cleaning, push the button at the rear of the seat and lift it off, taking care not to move the hinge posts. Never use abrasive or harsh chemical cleaners, and wipe the seat with warm soapy water to keep the surface finish.
The Family D shape seat and its measuring guide
The Family D shape seat is a three flap family toilet seat, and the junior seat is magnetically latched to the lid. When you need the junior seat, you pull it away from the lid and lower it. The reduced seat opening suits young children under adult supervision. The junior seat pulls off to unclip for cleaning or storage, and the main seat is quick release, which allows thorough cleaning around the hinges.
The seat comes with a compatibility list and measurement chart. It lists Caroma pans and suites by code across the Luna, Urbane, Urbane II, Liano and Elvire families, in both close coupled and wall faced versions, and it includes a way to measure existing pans, including non Caroma pans. There are three ranges: dimension A between 53mm and 173mm, dimension B between 390mm and 450mm, and dimension C between 350mm and 360mm. Its drawing shows which part of the pan each letter refers to. Measure your pan against the document, not against the picture on a listing.
Fitting an Invisi Series II plate and buttons
The Invisi Series II plates cover round, rectangular, care and blanking panels. Push the pneumatic tubes into the rear of the mounting panel assembly, each tube matched to its button. Fix the mounting panel to the tiling box or the remote mounting box with the supplied Allen key and screws. Trim the tiling box or remote mounting box flush to the wall before assembling the buttons, and do not over tighten the mounting panel screws.
The face plate then goes onto the mounting panel with the two locking racks in the unlock position. The installer depresses the full flush button and locks the face plate top and bottom with the Allen key. The button caps clip on with the half flush on the left. For service access, a flat head screwdriver in the full flush button window levers the button cap off, and the procedure runs in reverse.
Custom buttons need a hole of 65mm by 57mm, or a round hole of 57mm, which is two and a quarter inches. They suit panels up to 55mm thick. A rectangular installation where the mounting plate is thinner than 26mm needs an additional spacer. The blanking panel comes off with a screwdriver in the pry slots at either end. This is why a plate belongs to its cistern: the tubes, the box and the panel all have to fit.
Geberit Sigma plates
The Sigma20 plate is for flush actuation with Sigma concealed cisterns. It has front actuation and sound absorbing actuator rods with tool free fast adjustment, and the maximum actuation force is 20 newtons. Accessories include a DuoFresh module with automatic actuation and an insert for a DuoFresh stick, for the Sigma concealed cistern of 8 centimetres, and an extension set for Sigma, Omega and Kappa concealed cisterns. The matte white round plate is plastic, 24.6 centimetres wide, 16.4 centimetres high and 1.2 centimetres deep, with a white matt, easy to clean coated button and a glossy white design ring. The square white and gold plate is the same size, with glossy white and gold coloured stripes.
The plates listed here as Sigma 30 are Sigma20 actuator plates, square. One stainless steel and chrome plate is screwable, which is a different fixing method from the clip in plates. Ask us to confirm which cistern each plate suits and how it fixes.
Seima colour buttons and hinge covers
Seima toilets come with chrome flush buttons and stainless steel seat hinge covers as standard. Colour buttons and hinge covers are extras, fitted in place of the standard items, and the covers are sold as a set of two. Six colours are available: brushed nickel, gunmetal, brushed gold, brushed bronze, matte black and matte white.
The hinge covers are sorted by seat type into Deluxe or Classic, Slim and Flat. Each group has its own order code, so the right set depends on the seat on the pan. The matte white set uses the same code for the Slim and the Flat seat. The colour parts are available for selected suites, including the Arko, Modia, Limni and Syros, and are easy to install. Installation shall follow AS/NZS 3500, epoxy type adhesives are not to be used when fixing the pan, and cleaning is with a damp cloth, without abrasive cleaners, liquids or pastes. Ask us which seat type your listing fits.
The round Caroma buttons
The round metal buttons and the Luna round bezel and button fit in the same four steps. Screw the nut onto the button assembly from underneath the lid. Fit the button into the lid with the half flush line to the left. Check that the HF and FF markings sit perpendicular to the back wall, and tighten the nut by hand. Never use abrasive or harsh chemical cleaners on the button or lid, and wipe with warm soapy water to keep the decorative finish.
A short checklist before you order a part
Start by finding the code or range name of the pan, the cistern or the seat you have. Then read the compatibility line on the listing for the part. Next, check the pan codes a seat suits and the cistern a plate needs. If the part is a seat, measure the pan against the seat's measuring guide. Finally, ask us if anything on the listing is unclear. Keep the leaflet with the part, because the installer will need it.
The Trident seat and the seat chart
The Trident seat has a longer fitting sequence than the Xena, because the Trident is a snap on seat with adjustable pan fittings. The mounting plate is fixed loosely to the pan with the plastic washer and bolt, so its position can still be adjusted. The seat and hinge plate are pushed over the mounting plate, the seat is removed without moving the plate, and the bolts are fully tightened. The link plate is clipped over the flush pipe, marked 15mm from the back of the mounting block and cut along the marked line with a hacksaw. A sharp knife can put a bevel on the cut edge to make the seat easier to fit.
There are two hinge buttons. The standard quick release button lets the seat come off for cleaning, and the optional vandal resistant button stops the seat from being removed. The installer trims and fits the cover plate if the connection plate is narrow, or fits the cover plate if there is no connection plate. As with the other seats, never use abrasive or harsh chemical cleaners, and wipe the seat with warm soapy water.
The Trident technical manual, dated February 2015, includes a seat range chart that matches seat families to pan families. A tick marks a preferred combination and a dot marks a suitable one. The chart sets seat families such as Arc, Avalon, Caravelle, Contura, Liano, Metro, Profile, Trident, Urbane Compact and Vintage against pan families such as Cameo, Caravelle, Concorde, Contura, Cube, Leda, Liano, Opal, Profile, Retro, Trident, Urbane and Vintage. It also lists a toggle and bolt pack for blind fixing and an adaptor kit for Leda type pans. The chart dates from 2015, so check a seat against the current compatibility line for your pan before you order.
Seima flush plate 500
The Seima Flush Plate 500 is a plate for in-wall toilets with pneumatic or mechanical actuation. It is a push button system that is easy to install and service. The plate is ABS plastic, 236mm wide, 152mm high and 8mm deep, in seven finishes: brushed nickel, gunmetal, brushed gold, brushed bronze, black matte, white matte and chrome. Each combination of finish and actuation has its own order code, so the pneumatic plate and the mechanical plate are different parts.
That matters when ordering: the plate and the cistern must use the same actuation. Installation shall follow AS/NZS 3500, epoxy type adhesives are not to be used, and the plate should be cleaned with a damp cloth without abrasive cleaners, liquids or pastes. Ask us which actuation the listing you choose has, and which your cistern needs.
Meir Sigma 21 plates
The Meir Sigma 21 plate is a stainless steel cover plate attached to the original Geberit frame and actuator, which are included. The plate comes in several colour options. Do not install it using any form of acetone silicones, do not put tools or other physical items against the product, and never use household abrasive cleaners. Clean with a mild washing soap solution. Check the product for defects before installation and follow the installation manual.
Geberit Sigma 60: thickness and cistern limits
The Sigma60 glass plate is the most restrictive of the plates. It is for Sigma concealed cisterns of 8 centimetres from the 2016 range, and for covering thicknesses of 24mm to 50mm. It is not suitable for Geberit Duofix elements for wall hung toilets in barrier free applications. The plate is die cast zinc and glass, 21.4 centimetres wide, 13.2 centimetres high and 2.5 centimetres deep, with a chrome frame and a surface even actuation. The plate is phasing out.
The wall thickness, the cistern range and the toilet type all decide whether this plate can be used. A tiled wall thicker than 50mm will not suit it. Ask us about the phasing out note, and whether a replacement plate is planned.
Cold wash bidet seats that need no power
The Lafeme non electric bidet seats come with an installation and user manual. They are cold wash seats with a bidet nozzle and a wash nozzle. The water pressure limit is 0.07 to 0.8 megapascals, and the water supply cannot be above 40 degrees or below 0 degrees, since that may cause a mechanical fault. Do not lift the product with the seat cover and seat open. Two installation methods are described: expansive nuts, which is recommended, and butterfly nuts. The shutoff valve should be near where the product is installed and removed.
The Una measures 500mm by 370mm by 60mm, weighs 7kg, has a bottom water inlet position and a soft closing cover. The seat has no electric parts, so the water connection is the only trade work. Ask us whether the seat includes the T shaped connector.
Before you order
Check the make and range of your cistern, then read the compatibility line on the listing. If the parts you need are no longer made for your toilet, see the main toilets page for choosing a whole suite.
