Gunmetal Robe Hooks

If the hook will regularly carry a heavy, wet robe or multiple towels, or is likely to get pulled on rather than gently hung, fixing into a stud or solid blocking gives a far more reliable, long-term hold than plasterboard alone. If you're mid-renovation and unsure how the hook will be used day to day, adding blocking behind the wall before tiling avoids having to open the wall again later.

A genuine gunmetal finish applied as a PVD or quality electroplated coating over solid brass or a good zinc alloy base holds up well in ongoing bathroom humidity, since the coating is durable and the base metal resists corrosion. The main risk is a lower-quality product with thin plating over a cheaper base, which can show wear or spotting within a couple of years in a constantly damp environment. Checking the base material and finish process, rather than judging on colour alone, is the more reliable way to assess longevity.
