Noosa Project: A Hinterland Home Reimagined

Buying a property without ever walking through it is a leap of faith at the best of times, let alone with three little ones and an interstate move to manage on top. Matty and Jess had a clear plan from day one: renovate and flip this Queenslander into something special, leaning into its character rather than fighting it.

That meant embracing the tropical setting, the timber bones of the house, and a considered, room-by-room approach rather than trying to do everything at once. The kitchen and bathroom were two of the first big wins, and they set the tone for everything that's followed.

With three young kids, this kitchen needed to be as practical as it is good-looking, and the hero pieces do exactly that. A Turner Hastings Cuisine fireclay sink in gloss white anchors the space, deep enough for the daily load and with a timeless farmhouse silhouette that suits the home's character perfectly.

Paired with it is the Turner Hastings Ludlow pull-out sink mixer in Brushed Nickel, giving the flexibility a busy family kitchen actually needs. Finishing the space, Castella Bentleigh handles in Brushed Nickel, a classic, understated detail that ties the whole room together without competing with the sage green joinery.

If the kitchen is calm and classic, the bathroom is where Matty and Jess got to have some fun. A deep, moody Sea Blue Theo subway tile runs floor to ceiling, giving the room real depth and drama, especially against the warm glow of brushed nickel.

That hardware is the Meir Harrington range in full, including the wall tap set, wall spout, shower mixer and combination shower rail with hand shower. It's a cohesive, traditional-meets-modern look that gives the small space real presence, proving a bold tile choice doesn't need bold hardware to match, just the right hardware.

Underfoot, a Silver Grey Gabriele hexagon marble mosaic grounds the space with a softer, more textural finish than the wall tile, while a Caroma basin keeps the room feeling light and uncluttered.
