Caroma Contura II Toilet Suites Buying Guide
Caroma Contura II toilet suites pair a soft, sculptural shape with a rimless Cleanflush pan. The collection includes a close coupled suite, an Invisi Series II wall faced suite with a concealed cistern and an Invisi Series II wall hung suite, along with Contura II round dual flush button panels and a clay soft close seat. The range comes in white, matte white and clay, and suits bathrooms designed around the matching Contura II basins and tapware.
What is Caroma Cleanflush?
Cleanflush is Caroma's rimless pan design. With no rim, there is nowhere for grime to hide, and the whole bowl is visible and easy to clean. Caroma's Flow Splitter spreads water evenly around the top of the bowl, and the Flow Balancer directs it into the sump. The seat has GermGard antibacterial protection. Every Contura II suite is rated 4 star WELS with a 4.5 and 3 litre dual flush, averaging 3.5 litres per flush.
Which Contura II suite should I choose?
The close coupled suite has a visible ceramic cistern on the pan and the simplest installation. It has a 440mm pan height, a 655mm projection and a universal S or P trap, in white or matte white. The Invisi Series II wall faced suite hides the cistern in the wall for a cleaner look, with a 440mm pan height and a shorter 570mm projection, in white, matte white or clay. The wall hung suite floats off the floor for easy cleaning, with a 405mm pan height, a 535mm projection and a P trap only.
What set out do Contura II toilets need?
The set out is the distance from the wall to the centre of the waste. The close coupled suite uses Caroma's Uni-Orbital connector, giving a set out of 60mm to 200mm, with 140mm recommended. The Invisi Series II wall faced pan suits 60mm to 120mm, with 90mm recommended. Give your plumber the specification sheet and installation instructions for the exact suite before the waste is roughed in.
Do I need to buy a flush button separately?
For the Invisi Series II suites, yes. The Contura II Invisi Series II round dual flush button panel is metal with a PVD finish, 228 x 116mm, in brushed brass, brushed nickel, brushed bronze, chrome and black, and comes with an installation kit. The pneumatic buttons can sit up to 4 metres from the cistern. The close coupled cistern comes with a chrome button.
What do I need to plan for a concealed cistern?
The Invisi II cistern needs a wall cavity at least 90mm deep for a front mount button panel, or 100mm for a top mount panel, and 400mm to 420mm wide. Service access is usually through the button panel. Wall hung pans need a bracket system suited to non-compressible wall materials, and the frame must be installed before the wall is tiled. Agree the finished seat height before the carrier is fixed, especially if a user needs a higher seat.
How do I clean a Contura II toilet?
Use a non-abrasive bowl cleaner and a soft brush on the pan; the rimless design makes this quick. Wipe the seat, seat caps and button panel with a soft damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Avoid bleach, acidic cleaners, vinegar and scouring pads on brushed finishes and the soft close hinges. Installation must be carried out by a licensed plumber to AS/NZS 3500, using the matching Contura II pan and cistern.
