Momo Barrington Cabinet Handles Buying Guide
The Momo Barrington is a zinc alloy cabinet hardware range designed and built in-house by Momo Handles, with an Art Deco influence. It includes plain and ribbed Eclipse half-moon pulls, a cup pull, a knob, bar handles and matching backplates, in finishes including Matt Brass, Dark Brushed Brass, Bronze, Polished Nickel, Matt Black and Dull Brushed Nickel.
What is the Barrington Eclipse handle?
The Eclipse is a half-moon pull, a flat semicircular handle you grip from underneath. It comes in two versions: Plain, with a smooth face, and Ribbed, with fine vertical reeding. Both come in a small size, 80mm long on 64mm hole centres, and a large size, 110mm long on 94mm hole centres. The half-moon shape suits drawers in shaker, Hamptons and Art Deco-style kitchens and vanities.
What other pieces are in the range?
The Barrington cup pull is 105mm long and 24mm deep on 64mm centres, a classic choice for lower drawers. The knob is 32mm across and projects 30mm. The bar handle comes in 179mm on 160mm centres and 339mm on 320mm centres, both projecting 29mm. Backplates are available to suit the knob (100mm long) and the 160mm bar handle (190mm long), each only 3mm deep.
Should I choose plain or ribbed?
Plain gives a clean, simple look that works in modern and transitional kitchens. Ribbed adds texture and a stronger Art Deco feel, catching the light along each groove. You can mix the two in one room, such as ribbed on drawers and plain on doors, as long as the finish stays the same.
Which Barrington size suits my drawers?
A pull roughly a third of the drawer width tends to look balanced. The 179mm bar handle suits a standard 600mm drawer, and the 339mm bar handle suits wide drawers and tall doors. The Eclipse and cup pull work on drawers of any width, often paired with the knob on doors. Check the hole centres before replacing existing handles.
Is zinc alloy durable?
Yes. Zinc alloy is a die-cast metal that holds detailed shapes such as the ribbed Eclipse well, and it feels solid in the hand. The finishes are electroplated, protecting the metal underneath, so gentle cleaning keeps them looking good. Avoid fitting zinc alloy handles directly in a shower splash zone. Note that screws are not included with some pieces, such as the 320mm bar handle.
How do I care for Barrington handles?
Wipe them with a soft, damp cloth and a little mild soap, then dry. Use a soft brush to clear dust from the ribbed grooves. Avoid metal polish, abrasive pads, bleach and acidic cleaners, which can wear or dull the plated finish.
